Why Do You Look For Jesus?

“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It seems that we often only spend time in the presence of God when we want something from Him.  Sure, He goes as far as to command us to bring our burdens to Him and we definitely should obey Him.  But our needs shouldn’t be the only reasons why we seek Him.

The story of the magi and their motives for seeking out the newborn Jesus has been recorded in the Bible for us.  They were not looking for the newborn King of the Jews to seek His help or to ask for a favour.  They wanted to find Him so they could worship Him and give Him gifts.  We need to make sure that we take the time to get near to Jesus to bless and worship Him and not just because because we need something from Him.

The true wisdom of the magi was that they sought Jesus to give Him something not just to see what they could get from Him.
