“Life can be difficult.”
That is an understatement if there ever was one. All people face trouble in life. Health problems; family conflict; illnesses; emotional pain; financial hardships; accidents; loss; death; unemployment; and the list could go on.
Thankfully there is help for those of us who have accepted Jesus as our saviour. There is support that we can draw on as believers, support that comes directly from our Heavenly Father.
Let’s take a look at an example from the life of the apostle Paul that shows us some of the ways that God helps His children through times of trouble.
Read Acts 23:1-11
Key Verse: “That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.” Acts 23:11 NLT
God Shows Up
“That night the Lord appeared to Paul…”
In our times of trouble God encourages us by drawing close to us.
Verse 11 tells us that God appeared to Paul. Paul found himself in a very difficult situation and the first thing that we see God doing for Paul was to make himself real to Paul once again. The words God spoke could’ve been said by almost anyone, “Have courage Paul,” and those words would have been nice to hear, but what Paul needed was to have God made real to him again.
God came and ministered an encouraging message to Paul during what was one of Paul’s lowest moments. When he was lonely, desperate, and hurting, God showed up.
Our Heavenly Father will do the same for us in our troubles. He makes himself real to us in many different ways. He may speak to you through his holy Word; He may touch you through the touch of a friend or family member; or maybe he makes himself known during a time of worship or prayer.
If you are struggling today, if you’re facing a difficult time I Believe that God wants to make himself real to you again. He wants you to know that He is still with you, he is still watching over you, and he is still taking care of you.
In our times of trouble God encourages us by showing up.
